Solar Power - UK to Build 20 Gas-fired Power Stations; New Methods to Predict Wave Energy- Energy Min 10/12/12

Twenty new gas-fired power stations will be built in the UK over the next 20 years, according to the Energy and Climate Departments. The government plans to add 20 gigawatts of electricity generating capacity from gas by 2030. Natural gas generates about 40 percent of the UK's power last year. The country currently has 20 gigawatts of electricity generating capacity from offshore wind turbines. A new poll reports that many Americans support efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, with most agreeing that climate change is an important issue that needs immediate attention. 92 percent of those surveyed in a Hart Research Associate's poll of 1200 adults believe that it is "very important" or "somewhat important" for the US to develop solar power in order to achieve sustainability. Researchers have published a study claiming new methods for predicting waves that could double the current energy capture from water in motion. By predicting wave power through more sophisticated wave energy capture technology, the amount of power generated could be vastly increased.
