renewable energy - Vermont Energy Conf; PG&E Sustainability Data; Army Asks for Renewable Energy - Energy Min 10/1/12

The 11th Annual Vermont Renewable Energy Conference and Expo opens today, in Burlington. This year's theme is "Driving Towards a Smart, Renewable Energy Future." Conference highlights will include speakers, workshops, networking receptions, and panels. Consumers and business owners can visit with 60 of the region's leading renewable energy businesses in an exhibit hall. The conference runs through tomorrow. PG&E has released detailed information about its progress on environment-related indicators for compliance, energy and water use, climate change, and greening its fleet and supply chain. The data is contained in the company's just-released Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Report. PG&E has been included on the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index for the fifth consecutive year, and on the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index for the fourth year in a row. The US Army has issued a $7 billion renewable energy request for proposals as part of its goal to procure 25 percent, about one gigawatt, of its power from renewables by 2025. The Department of Defense will purchase the output from wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass projects that could be built at 180 sites it says are at or near its bases, and are suitable for renewable energy production.
