renewable energy - $2.5M Grant to Plug Power From DOE; Johnson Controls New Analytics App- Energy Min 11/13/12

Plug Power, a developer of hydrogen fuel cells, has received a $2.5 million award from the US Department of Energy. The grant enables Plug Power to retrofit 15 electric tow tractors so that they operate using hydrogen fuel cells instead of traditional lithium-ion batteries. The tractors will then be deployed at two FedEx departments at airports in Tennessee and California. The DoE will evaluate the performance data to help it determine the viability of fuel cells. Johnson Controls has added EnergyPoint Analytics as an application on its Panoptix Platform to help building owners manage their facilities. The app provides a normalized, one-to-one comparison of energy resource consumption across all domains, including water, electricity, transportation, gas, waste, and materials.
