solar power companies - CDPH/FACE: Preventing falls in the solar industry
As the use of solar energy continues to grow in California and the US, an increasing number of solar installation workers are exposed to fall hazards that can cause injury or death. This video explains the events that led to a solar installer dying after he fell from an apartment building roof. Photographs from the fatality investigation are supplemented with scenes re-created by solar workers. Fall prevention recommendations are highlighted. Solar installation and construction companies are encouraged to include this video as part of a comprehensive safety training program (English, 4.5 minutes). The video was produced by the California Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) program (www.cdph.ca.gov in the Occupational Health Branch of the California Department of Public Health.
