Solar Electricity - BoTV: Berlin's main trainstation is a gigantic glass solar energy-making building!

Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Berlin Central Station) is the main railway station in Berlin, Germany. Construction began in 1995 and the stationed officially opened as Berlin's main station on 26 May 2006. Passport to Europe The new station is located on the site of the historic Lehrter Bahnhof built in 1871. Following heavy damages during WWII it was demolished in 1959. Interestingly the see-through roof has a photovoltaic (solar power) system integrated into the glass surface! Photovoltaics (PV) is a method of generating electrical power by converting solar radiation into direct current electricity using semiconductors that exhibit the photovoltaic effect.
