solar power companies - Solyndra Bankruptcy Fallout: Republicans Widen Probe, May Subpoena White House

US Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), a senior member of the Energy & Commerce Committee, says House Republicans are widening their probe of the Obama administration's loan guarantee to solar manufacturer Solyndra, which plans to file for bankruptcy. In an interview with energyNOW! correspondent Lee Patrick Sullivan, Stearns says the committee is investigating loan guarantees provided to other clean-energy companies besides Solyndra. Stearns also says the committee is demanding documents from the White House about Solyndra, and may issue a subpoena to get them. Stearns is the chairman of the House energy panel's Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
