Green Mountain Energy, an Austin-based company, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of open competition in the electricity market in Texas this month. Beginning in 2002, Green Mountain was the first retail electric provider in the state to offer renewable energy, and is now the longest serving green power provider in the US The company has delivered over ten billion kilowatt hours of clean energy to Texas customers, and encouraged development of 32 new solar energy facilities. Poyry a consulting and engineering company, has joined the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Poyry practice focuses on the issues of energy, industry, urban mobility, and water and the environment. The WBCSD is a global association with a network of 60 national and regional business councils and partner organizations that provides a forum for its 200 members to advocate for sustainability in business.
