December 1st 2011 Renewable Energy Rally at RBC and BOA with Occupy Asheville North Carolina Six arrested at clean energy protest in downtown Asheville www.mountainx.com A march to Royal Bank of Canada's branch on Battery Park Place to protest their funding of the Keystone XL pipeline through the Midwest. An attempt to give an executive of RBC a letter outlining their position was denied, and the bank remained locked up tight throughout the rally. The marchers then went to Bank of America on Patton Avenue for another rally. During the rally, two of the organizers chained themselves to a wooden windmill sign they had brought. Their chains were cut by Asheville Police officers and they were arrested. A man identifying himself as Robert Thomas said he was a customer, arrested while trying to enter the branch to conduct business. occupyasheville.org
