The government will continue to invest in alternative sources of power to meet the growing need for power especially in rural areas. Finance Minister Njeru Githae says up to 80% of the country is still dependant on domestic sources of energy including wood fuel and kerosene to meet their daily energy requirements. Githae was speaking after signing a 1.32 billion shillings financing agreement with Belgium to develop phase 2 of the Ngong Hills wind power electricity generating project that will generate an additional 6.8 megawatts of power.
