DIY wind power - HGTV's Hit Show Spice Up Your Kitchen Features Reclaimed Flooring from Pioneer Millworks

Farmington, NY (PRWEB) October 27, 2008

Pioneer Millworks will make its HGTV debut on the hit show Spice Up Your Kitchen starring designer Lauren Lake and carpenter Jeff Devlin. The episode premieres on October 28, 2008 at 8:30 PM ET/PT on HGTV. Then airs again: October 29, 2008 12:30 AM ET/PT and November 23, 2008 1:00 PM ET/PT.

The episode centers on turning a young couple's DIY nightmare into a Victorian dream kitchen in a small Philadelphia row house. Jered Slusser, Pioneer Millworks wood expert, helped to install his company's antique Character Select Heart Pine flooring.

Slusser notes that this was a great opportunity to work alongside other professionals. "Compliments came throughout the day about the milling, the finishing, and the character of the wood. In fact, Jeff Devlin was caught hugging & kissing a plank because it was so beautiful to him." The homeowner was also there helping to select choice planks for the middle of the room where they would be the most visible.

Pioneer Millworks salvaged the old growth timbers from the McCormick Harvester tractor plant in Rock Island, IL and then repurposed the timbers into solid wood flooring. The timbers supported the structure of the factory for over a century while hundreds of thousands of tractors were built. After production ceased a few years ago, the factory stood vacant until it was finally demolished, over 90% of the building was recycled. Bricks, steel, glass, timber, and all.

Since 1989, Pioneer Millworks has been the premier name in salvaging and repurposing antique wood. The company manufactures all of its products in the USA from their 13-acre facility (a reclaimed bowling alley) and uses alternative energy sources such as 100% wind power, bio-diesel, and heats with wood scraps. Their products offer homeowners, designers, and builders a sustainable alternative without compromising quality, character, or selection. Pioneer Millworks is a FSC certified chain of custody manufacturer in three categories. Their products are good for you and the earth. All products are LEED point eligible.
