renewable energy - Renewables: EurActiv debate at the European Parliament - Part 1 of 2




Fondation EurActiv on 8 February 2011 organized a debate at the European Parliament under the title: 'Renewables; Fuelling Europe's competitiveness and cohesion'. Following the presentation of teh EU Energy 2020 strategy and the Communication on Energy Infrastructure Priorities, EurActiv invited policymakers and stakeholders to debate the evolving role of renewables and green innovation in Europe's energy mix. Participating are Claude Turmes, MEP for the Greens/EFA group from Luxembourg, and host of the debate; Philip Lowe, DG of DG ENER at the European Commission; Arne Mogren, Director of the European Climate Foundation; Mel Kendal, Executive Member of Environment at Hampshire County Council and representing the Assembly of the European Regions; and Magued Eldaief, Director UK and Executive Director Global Accounts at GE Energy.
