I built an electric go-kart powered by 3 solar panels. I made it to the Florida State Science and Engineering Fair with this project many years ago. I used an Etek 36 volt 8 HP electric motor powered by several 6 volt batteries in series and parallel connections. The top speed was about 20 mph to 25 mph, with the go-kart able to run at full speed for about 30 minutes.
